Shottesbrooke Winery is rooted in a legacy of unwavering commitment, tireless effort, and boundless passion. The culmination of years of dedication from the people, the land, and a shared spirit has propelled their wines to international acclaim. In 1981, the Shottesbrooke journey commenced as its founder, Nick Holmes, planted his first vineyard just outside the quiet South Australian village of Myponga. It was here that Nick's passion for crafting wines from the McLaren Vale and its surrounding areas was sparked by the exceptional fruit these vines bore.
From these modest beginnings, Nick acquired a property in McLaren Flat, where he established the Shottesbrooke winery and cellar door. Here, he embarked on a quest to create the finest McLaren Vale wines.
Today, under the leadership of Nick's step-son, Hamish Maguire, who serves as both winemaker and general manager, Shottesbrooke continues to produce an array of exceptional wines. These wines draw from vineyards owned and managed by the estate, strategically situated in the prestigious winegrowing regions of McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. These regions are celebrated for their production of some of Australia's most distinguished Shiraz, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
